Learning is something that a lot of people do throughout the course of their lives. It is a never ending process for many especially with computers being such a high priority these days. Becoming proficient at using programs on them is imperative, no matter what type of program it is. This is one reason why adobe photoshop training has been seen to be so high in demand.

Numerous options are around for people to learn the skills that they require. Tutorials are abundant on the internet and can be a very good way for some people to learn what they need. A lot of the tutorials can be found at no charge for people that want to use them. It may take a bit of time to find the one that is right for you but will be worth it in the long run if this is the way you find you learn the best.

Other people find that using a book has been a big help for them when it comes to adobe photoshop training. There are a lot of books on this subject that can help you develop the skills that you need. Many of these books have tutorials that can be followed that allow you to use hands on techniques when applying the changes to a certain project

There are people that need to have someone sit with them and show them the proper way to do things with the adobe photoshop program. There are schools that offer courses that allow for you to get this kind of assistance. Numerous people find that this is the only way that they can absorb the information that they are taught.

Tutors are one more thought to consider. This is a way that people can get the help they need without any other distractions. This allows you to have a person with you to help you through the processes that are encountered. Tutors do cost a bit of money, but the rewards that you can reap by using them are well worth the investment that you make.

No matter what it is that you want when it comes to adobe photoshop training there are many choices that are available. Taking some time to look at what your specific needs are can be the best thing a person can do when deciding on a route to take.

Microsoft PowerPoint training can be obtained through many sources. This program comes with the Microsoft office suite and has many uses.

The Microsoft tutorial is a good way to learn the basics and it’s free of charge. This can give you enough information to get you started. Once you get started on your own then you can experiment with all of the options available to you through the program and customize the presentations to fit your individual needs. I highly recommend trying this out before you spend a lot of money on expensive courses, books, or other training.

If you have questions about the program not answered or if you need more advanced instruction then you have several options available. Any course that offers training in Microsoft office usually provides instruction in Microsoft PowerPoint as well.

Other sites offer tutorials as well but usually charge a fee. These are probably more advanced tutorials and if you can learn on your won without an instructor to ask for help this may be an alternative to taking a full computer course only to learn the PowerPoint program. A slightly cheaper alternative may be to buy one of the many books available.

Besides any one of the many schools in your area that probably provide training in these programs there are also several online classes available to you as well. These will probably offer much more in depth training and have the benefit of providing an instructor to assist you if you become stuck and unable to grasp a concept.

Microsoft PowerPoint training is available for both the 2003 and 2007 versions of the program. This is a great program to help ions look your presentations look professional weather you are preparing for a business meeting or a class presentation.

Adobe has long offered users the option of automating InDesign workflows through scripting. Although scripts may be writing in AppleScript (Macintosh only) or VBScript (Windows only), the most satisfactory scripting language is the cross-platform, and very widely used, JavaScript. One of the simplest and yet most useful operations that can be accomplished using scripting is the automation of Find/Change. InDesign's Find/Change feature is one of the program's most powerful features and it is one of those features which can be fully automated by scripting. In fact, you can achieve a lot more through scripting than you can by manually performing a Find/Change operation.
InDesign Scripting – Finding And Changing Text is a post from: Programmer Palace

InDesign’s Find/Change feature is one of the program’s most powerful features and it is one of those features which can be fully automated by scripting. In fact, you can achieve a lot more through scripting than you can by manually performing a Find/Change operation.

There are three main commands available in scripting for performing Find/Change operations: findText(), findGrep() and findGlyph(). A good deal can be accomplished using the straightforward findText() command. However, if you need to make fairly complex changes, and if you have the time and patience to find the right regular expression, you can use the findGrep() command which is designed for performing searches for regular expressions.

Before performing a Find/Change operation, you need to set up the preferences that will be used. Firstly, you set the properties of the findChangeTextOptions object: parameters include caseSensitive, wholeWord, ignoreHiddenLayers and ignoreMasterPages. Next, you set up your findTextPreferences and changeTextPreferences parameters, the most important of which are findWhat and changeTo, respectively. It is also usually a good idea to clear out any preferences that may still be in play from a previous search. This is done by setting both the findTextPreferences and changeTextPreferences objects to nothing, using the commands: app.findTextPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing and app.changeTextPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing.

As well as this, the findTextPreferences and changeTextPreferences objects offer all of the formatting parameters normally available with text objects.

One of the practical exercises which we give to students attending our InDesign scripting courses is to create a script which searches for the name of a company within a document, changes the format of the text to look like a regular web hyperlink (blue, bold, underlined) and then makes it a hyperlink. To change the format of the text, we simply use the appropriate properties of the changeTextPreferences object, such as fillColor, fontStyle and underline.

Basic tutorials can be found on the web for free for Dreamweaver training. These tutorials are free until you reach the more in depth area such as site control. When reaching the more advanced sections, a subscription to the website and a fee maybe required. Closed captioning is offered for the videos. Exercise files maybe available for download.

In general, the tutorials are broken up in the following manner.

Getting started is where you will find information on coding and scripting for Dreamweaver. The videos provide much more detail about the varieties of coding and scripts that are available, why they are important and what their function is.

User interface for Dreamweaver is the next lesson. How to setup your workspace is the first choice offered. The majority of programs have a welcome screen that appears when it is first loaded. For the differences in the interface between Windows and Mac, this is the section to look in. This topic also discusses the purpose for the property inspector, insert bar, document window and toolbar, panel groups and panels, how to save the layouts and creating a default browser.

Within the section of Site control file and folder management is discussed. Understanding the path structure, developing a sitemap and how to add to your site is the goal.

Being able to create or save new documents is necessary in order to develop a new blank site. Learning about adding text and images is necessary as well as understanding doctype, how to align text in the document and creating meta tags.

If you do not already know how to create links, check out the section that provides this information. You can learn how to create these links with point to file, email links, external links, named anchors and how to link to files and image maps.

CSS essentials provide the user with an introduction to CSS. A lesson on the anatomy of the CSS style sheet, page properties, style panels, moving internal sheets to external file sheets and what is a selector and its function are in the introduction.

Formatting the text within a sheet is discussed in typography.

Creating and formatting tables to your page is taught.

Then are the instructions for Layout. This section talks about layout tools, tracing images, how to add AP div tags and working with layout tables.

Designing pages to work with devices such as printers is important.

Starting from the essentials to the creation of the website is what the tutorial provides. The sections listed in depth here are only a few of them that are available. Other sections go on to discuss 10 other topics. Plan on spending quiet a bit of time and money to receive in depth training for Dreamweaver.

Having created a PDF file, you will quite frequently need to manipulate the pages within the document without wishing to have to return to the original pre-PDF version. You may for example need to update, remove or add pages. Acrobat contains a number of menu commands and other techniques for working with pages. There are two ways of working with pages in Acrobat: firstly, you can use the commands in the Document menu and, secondly, you can use the Pages panel. The pages panel contains its own panel menu offering all of the page manipulation commands found in the Document menu as well as other useful commands and techniques.

Adobe Acrobat offers four main menu commands for manipulating pages within a PDF document: Insert, Extract, Replace and Delete. These commands are found both in the Document menu and in the Pages panel menu. The Document menu also contains one extra page manipulation command: Split Document.

The Insert command has two options: From File and From Clipboard. If you choose From File, you are presented with a browse dialog where you can navigate to the appropriate file and double-click its name. The Insert Pages dialog then appears, allowing you to specify where the incoming file will be inserted: either before or after a given page. If you choose the Clipboard option, the contents of the clipboard will be converted into a one page PDF document and inserted at the specified position.

The Extract command can be used to copy or move a single page (or a range of pages) into a separate new file. When the command is used, you can specify the page range to be extracted and whether or not the extracted pages should be deleted from the original document. Thus, the Extract command can be used to split an original document into several new and smaller documents. However, if the document has bookmarks, the Split document is more useful, since it will perform the operation in one step.

The Split Document dialog allows you to split a document mechanically (x number of pages in each file, for example). However, more usefully, it also offers an option called Top Level Bookmarks. This causes Acrobat to use each bookmark as the signal of where each of the new documents should start and end. You also have the option of placing the newly created PDF documents into a separate folder and using the bookmark names as the names of the new documents.

The Replace command allows you to choose an incoming PDF file and then specify which page or pages it should replace. Thus, it is equivalent to inserting a document and then deleting the pages which it is designed to replace.

Finally, the Delete command simply allows you to choose a range of pages which will be permanently deleted from the document. This command cannot be undone; so it is probably a good idea to ensure that a backup version of the document exists before using it.

There are two ways of adding images to a PowerPoint slide: as an independent object or as a background. The advantage of having the image independent is that you can manipulate it more easily: you can position it anywhere on the slide, resize it or crop it. You can also move it in front or behind other objects at will. Setting an image as the background to a slide always places it behind all other objects and since it can't be highlighted like other objects, it effectively gets locked in that position and can't get in the way.
Working With Images And Background Images In Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 is a post from: Programmer Palace

Setting an image as the background to a slide always places it behind all other objects and since it can’t be highlighted like other objects, it effectively gets locked in that position and can’t get in the way.

Slide masters often contain background images and, naturally, anything placed on the slide master will also be visible on all slides based on that master. However, background images can also be used on individual slides. Simply activate the slide and then click on the Design Tab of the PowerPoint ribbon. Next, click on the Launch button in the bottom right of the Background group to display the Format Background dialog.

Within the Format Background dialog there are two categories: Fill and Picture. In the Fill section, you need to click on the radio button labelled Picture or texture Fill. Next, you need to click on the File button to locate the image you want to use as a background. Then, optionally, you can switch to the Picture section and apply effects to the image such as changing the contrast or brightness or recolouring the image as a kind of duotone. If you choose some options and don’t like the result, simply click on the button marked Reset Picture.

It’s quite a luxury to have these options even when the image is inserted as a background. In previous versions of PowerPoint, the image editing options were only available with independent images. By the way, to access the options for editing images which are created by clicking on the Picture button on the Insert Tab of the Ribbon, simply highlight the image and activate the Format Tab of the Ribbon. (This is a context tab and will only appear when an image is highlighted.)

It’s not commonly knows, but you can also use as an image as the background fill to any PowerPoint text box or shape. Thus, for example, you might want to use an image as the backdrop to your bullet points. To set this up, all you need to do is to is to right-click on the object and choose Format Shape from the context menu. On the left of the dialog box which appears, highlight the Fill category; choose Picture or Texture Fill as the type; click on the File button and locate the image you wish to use as a fill. And it doesn’t end there: with a bit of tweaking can even use this same trick on charts and graphs.

Whenever you build a new website, you can almost guarantee that you will make mistakes and that there will be errors within the site that need to be fixed before it goes live. Adobe Dreamweaver has a number of tools for helping you to locate such errors and correct them. The program allows you to perform browser compatibility checks, locate broken links, orphaned files and locate syntax errors within your code.

Site testing should be an integral part of building a web site and not an isolated step which is performed after the site has been built. Every page that forms part of the site should function correctly in all its aspects in all of the browsers which the site is designed for. Using Adobe Dreamweaver’s various reports is a great way of ensuring that your site is error-free.

One of the first things you should do is to preview your pages in as many browsers as possible. Dreamweaver’s Preview in Browser feature allows you to set up primary and secondary browsers and then add as many other browsers as you like. Each time you choose File – Preview In Browser, you can choose any of the browsers you have configured. You should also try to preview your web pages both on PCs and Macs. This multi-browser testing is particular important for testing that CSS and JavaScript is functioning correctly. What works well in one browser does not always work in another.

At the web page level, you should also check both the text and the markup of each page. A simple omission made by many web developers is to check spelling. Naturally, this can be done in a word-processor such as Microsoft Word, prior to bringing the text into Dreamweaver. However, even in this scenario, it is quite typical to make further changes to your text within Dreamweaver. It is always a good idea, therefore, to run the spell-checker on every page. In Design mode, simply choose Check Spelling from The Command menu.

Another type of error which you should try to eliminate is broken links. These are, if nothing else, a potential cause of annoyance to your website visitor. Dreamweaver’s Link Checker will look for any links to pages that do not exist as well as locating orphaned pages; i.e., pages that do not have any links pointing to them and which will therefore not be found by your website visitors. To access Dreamweaver’s Link Checker, choose Check Links Sitewide from the Site menu.

It is kind of inevitable that Adobe Dreamweaver is so popular and so widely used. It offers the general user a way into the world of web development without first having to learn too much about the technologies which are used in building modern websites. Among the powerful features which Dreamweaver makes available to inexperienced users are preset CSS layouts, accessibility guidance, HTML guidance, CSS guidance and standards compliance. Let’s look at how these features are implemented and how Dreamweaver can make you look good as a web developer before you know enough to look good on your own.

Whenever you create a new web page in Dreamweaver, you are given the option of basing the new page on one of the preset CSS layouts built into the program. Using CSS for page layout requires a fair amount of experience of the quirks of CSS and is no job for a beginner. Simply by choosing the layout which is closest to their requirements, users can go ahead and create CSS web pages which will work and which can be customized to suit their requirements.

Dreamweaver automatically displays useful alerts to remind the user to incorporate accessibility features into the elements being placed on the page. Thus, for example, each time an image is added to the page, a dialogue box will appear which contains a box for the user to enter the alternate text. Similarly when adding a form element, the form accessibility dialog prompts you to enter both and ID and the label text.

Most new users of Dreamweaver will also be fairly new to web development and may still be a little shaky on HTML and will typically build web pages visually using Dreamweaver’s Design mode. Whenever I run a Dreamweaver training course, I always make new users aware of Dreamweaver’s tag selector feature. This consists of a hierarchical display of the element which is currently selected on the page, the element which contains that element? and so on, all the way up to the BODY element which of course contains all elements on the page. Clicking on one of the tags displayed on the tag selector cleanly selects the corresponding element. Also, right-clicking displays a useful set of options such as “Remove Tag” and “Set Class”.

The Properties panel is the most used of the Dreamweaver panels and it too offers new users a lot of assistance. Unlike previous versions of Dreamweaver, version CS4 makes a clear distinction between structural attributes (which are displayed in the HTML tab of the Properties panel) and CSS attributes (which are displayed in the CSS tab). For example, if you select an element which is already controlled by a CSS rule, the Properties panel will allow you to edit the rule. If there is no rule, it will prompt you to create one.

Dreamweaver’s context-sensitive Properties panel is another rock on which new users can always count.
